Through her artistic practice, ALB (Andreea-Lorena Bojenoiu) questions the image both in terms of painting and a broader understanding, as a surface in which takes place the construction of a cultural code. The action exerted on canvas sends symbolically to an archaeology of the surfaces. Through a personal technique, she unfolds the layers of the colours arranged on canvas in order to query the present status of the image, the relationship between the painted image and the perceived reality.
ALB has developed a series of work principles which she guides in her performative process: the elimination of painterly intent, not to reproduce, not to depict and not to recreate.
