Robert Pal Koteles
Robert Pal Koteles, born in 1975 in Salonta, lives and works in Salonta (RO). He studied painting between 1993 and 1998 at the Arts University in Timișoara (RO) in Professor Constantin’s Flondor class. In his last year of study he set up the conceptual basis of his painterly techniques. According to his working stages and research topics, his art has nothing in common with any trend of the environment and is based only on personal elements. His artistic vocabulary is marked by subjectivity. His art is not associated to any local context, traditions or art schools and is instead the measure of a personal game, engaging both thinking and practice. In his works, painting technique has turned into a subject of research and production in itself. He remains in Timișoara after finishing the studies until 2001. Between 2002 and 2007 his works were included in many collective shows in Romania and abroad. In 2005 he staged his first solo show, Hipercepție [Hyper-Perception], at the ArTei Gallery (Hanul cu Tei). In 2009, he started working in cinematography and designs the set for the film Morgen directed by Marian Crișan and in 2012 he returns to for the film Rocker by the same director. He is invited as artist-in-residence at the City of Arts project in France (FR). In 2011, he launches Forever, a solo show at the Călina Gallery in Timișoara (RO) and in 2013, Centrum at the Brâncoveanu Palaces Cultural Centre in Mogoşoaia (RO). The series Kromo, a solo show in 2015, at the Pal Art Gallery in Miercurea Ciuc (RO). In 2015, Pending at Anca Poterasu Gallery, Bucharest (RO). He is currently working with the ElectroPutere Gallery from Craiova (RO), in 2016 he is invited to take part in the Dialogical Silence exhibition and launches the series Mater. Also, in 2016 he is invite as one of the artist-in-residence in the Electro Putere AIR 2016 program, in Craiova (RO), offered by the Club Electro Putere, the Art Sympozium from Gărâna (RO) and Shaping Reality # Featuring Kaisersteinbruch residency, in Austria (AT).
